Overview

iMind4U is a remotely controlled audio, video, and still image recorder. It waits for a text message (sms) to trigger the recording and sends back the information in the form of a multi-media message (MMS). It can even detect movement and automatically send back the picture.

iMind4U provides an access control mechanism to prevent unwanted requests.

Pre-requisites

The phone that iMind4U is installed on must be configured to allow the sending of MMS messages, using the default messaging application. Most modern phones are sold with these settings already installed.

The client phone(s) must be capable of sending SMS messages and receiving MMS messages. iMind4U does NOT need to be installed on the client phone. Most modern phones are capable of receiving MMS picture messages.

Install iMind4U

When you buy iMind4U over the internet a special message will be sent to your phone with a URL link to the application module. This allows you to download and install the application by simple key presses, these are the responses for a typical phone,

• Go to your inbox and select the iMind4U message
• Select the link in the message and use the download option
• When requested to connect to server, YES
• If you get a security warning ‘can’t verify supplier, continue? YES
• Install iMind4U? YES
• Install? OK
• Install in Phone memory or Card memory? Phone

At this point the installation should be complete.

Run iMind4U

• Find the iMind4U icon on your application screen (could be in the My Own folder)
• Select the application

The first time you run the application it will go through a registration process indicated on the screen which typically takes about 20 seconds, at the end of this process the camera screen should be displayed,

• Select options
• Select settings

At this point you will get the settings icons displayed on the screen,

Contrast, Brightness, Zoom, Exposure, Capture Size, Jpeg Quality, Video Size, Flash, Length, Access Permissions, movement detection and the Information Log.

These may be adjusted for your particular preference using the left and right keys to select and the up and down keys to change. You should note that Network Operators sometimes limit the size of MMS messages so large images (e.g. greater than 640 x 480) or long Length times for sound may not be allowed. Some phones may not allow all these options to be modified.

Hide iMind4U

You can Hide the iMind4U application by selecting the Hide option. This means that iMind4U operates in background mode so you can select other applications as required. Notice also that iMind4U drops into sleep mode after about 10 seconds of no activity in order to conserve battery life. You should not notice any significant degradation of battery life in your phone except when using the movement sensor.

Access iMind4U

From a standard MMS enabled phone (most modern phones have this) compose an SMS message to the number of the phone on which you have installed iMind4U and in the subject field enter,

• ipic to request a still photo
• ivid to request a video as selected by the length setting in options
• irec to request a sound recording as selected by the length setting in options
• imov to request a video to be automatically sent when movement is detected

The iMind4U phone will receive the SMS message, obey the instruction and send to this phone an MMS message containing the photo, video, or sound clip. You should find this in the MMS inbox on your phone.

Configuring iMind4U

From the Options menu, select Settings. iMind4U will display a list of icons across the top of the screen. To navigate these items use the left and right arrow keys. To change the settings under a particular selection, use the up and down arrow keys.

For the movement detection you can set;

• Alarm Type: soft, mute, loud
• Sensitivity: low, medium, high

The phone will beep (except on mute) and display 'Caught' to help adjust the settings.

Please note that these options depend on the capabilities of your phone. For example, still-image capture size settings will only present those options that your camera hardware allows.

Access Control

Access control can be configured under the Settings menu. There are three options available.

Allow Everyone: iMind4U will process requests originating from any phone.

Contacts Only: iMind4U will only process those requests which originate from a number present in your phone's contact database.

iMind4U Group Only: iMind4U will only process those requests which originate from a number present in the iMind4U group (folder) in your phone's contact database.

iMind4U automatically generates this group when it is launched. To add or remove entries from this group please use your phones default contacts management application.
